Set a deposit on the work, taken by card when the customer books, with the rest paid on completion. A bigger job can hold a bigger deposit, so the longer the slot, the more is secured before the day.

- How much deposit can I ask for?
- You set it on the job, as a fixed amount, and you can ask for more on a big job and less on a small one. It is taken by card when the customer books.
- What if a customer needs to rearrange?
- As long as they move the booking within the notice period you set, the deposit carries over to the new date rather than being lost.
