Set a deposit on the package or the date, taken by card when the couple commits, with the balance due as the day approaches. The date is held from the moment the deposit is paid, so you are not turning away other couples for a maybe.

- Can I take a deposit for a wedding a year or more away?
- Yes. The deposit is taken by card when the couple books and holds the date however far ahead it is, with the balance invoiced nearer the time.
- What if the couple cancels after paying a deposit?
- The deposit is taken at booking and recorded against the wedding, so a date held far ahead is paid toward rather than held on trust. Your own terms decide what happens to it on a cancellation.
